Table tennis age groups and special events

Most tournaments have men's and women's singles and doubles, mixed doubles (a man and a woman as partners) and team events.

Younger players have youth events, with names like cadet and junior. The age limits are different at each event, so check the entry rules. Older players can play at the World Veterans Championships, for ages 40 and over, in 5-year age groups.

There are other events too. The Deaflympics is for deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes. Special Olympics is for athletes with intellectual disabilities, and players are grouped by age, gender and ability.
