Privacy Policy
Last updated
MarginTop Solutions (“we”, “us”) makes the game Table Tennis: 1v1 Online (Android package com.margintopsolutions.tabletennis) and runs this website. We are based at Pulchowk, Lalitpur, Nepal. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the game or the website.
The short version
- You do not need an account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number in the game.
- We do not sell your data, and the game has no ads.
- Players under 13 use Kids mode: no online play, no analytics, no links out without a grown-up.
- Anonymous usage analytics are off unless you are 16 or older and say yes.
- Online play shows your IP address to your opponent. That is how a direct connection works.
Kids mode and age
The first time you open the game we ask how old you are: under 13, 13 to 15, or 16 or older. We keep only your answer, on your own phone. We never ask for or store a birthday.
- Under 13 (Kids mode): online matches, private rooms and the online player count are switched off, so the game does not connect to our servers to play. Analytics are never started. The game still checks for updates (see below). Anything that leaves the game (for example the privacy policy link) needs a grown-up to answer a sum first. The game does not show store prompts to Kids mode players.
- 13 to 15: online play is allowed. Analytics are never asked for and never started.
- 16 or older: online play is allowed. You are asked once whether to share anonymous usage data, and you can change your mind in Settings.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent and think we have, email [email protected] and we will delete it. A grown-up can change the age group in Settings (it asks a sum first).
What we process, and why
When you play online (quick match, private room)
- Your IP address and connection details. Needed to connect you to the matchmaking and game servers and to your opponent. Our servers run on Cloudflare, which processes this for us.
- Room codes and match messages (where your bat is, the score). These pass through our servers while you play. A short-lived room record (who sits where and the current score) is kept so a match can recover from a dropped connection, and is discarded when the match ends or after about 30 minutes without activity. We keep no match history or player profile.
- A direct link to your opponent (WebRTC). To keep play fast, the two phones connect to each other. This means your opponent’s device can see your IP address while the match runs, as in most peer-to-peer games. To set the link up, the game asks Google’s public STUN servers (
stun.l.google.com) for your public address, and asks Metered (metered.live) for relay credentials, so both see your IP address. If a direct link is not possible, the match is relayed through Metered, which sees the same technical connection data. Match data is not kept afterwards. - The lobby. The menu connects to our matchmaking server to show how many players are online. This also shows your IP address to Cloudflare. It does not happen in Kids mode.
Updates
- The game checks a file on our storage (Cloudflare R2) for updates when it starts, and may download a newer version of its screens. Like any web request, this shows your IP address to Cloudflare.
Anonymous usage analytics (only if you are 16 or older and say yes)
- If you agree, the game sends events such as “a match started or ended”, its score and length, and how long matchmaking took, to PostHog (hosted in the EU). Events carry a random ID made on your phone, not your name or contact details. We use them only to improve the game, never for advertising and never to track you across other apps or sites.
- If you say no, or are under 16, nothing is sent and the analytics library is not even started. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Share usage data.
What stays on your phone
- Your settings (sound, screen effects, assists, difficulty), your age group and analytics choice, your best rally and how many bots you have beaten. We cannot see these.
If you contact us
- Your email address and what you tell us, so we can reply. We keep the conversation for as long as needed to help you.
On this website
- The website has no cookies, no analytics and no ads, and its fonts are served from our own server. Like any web server, ours records your IP address, the page you asked for, the time and your browser type in routine server logs, used only for security and troubleshooting and kept for a limited time.
- Links to Google Play and to other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Google Play and the App Store
- Google or Apple may collect their own data when you download or use the game (for example crash reports if you turned that on). That is controlled by them, not by us.
Our reasons for using information
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply: we use your connection details to run the online game you asked to play and for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working. We use analytics only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time without it affecting anything you did before. We do not make automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
| Who | What for | When |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts our game and matchmaking servers and the update storage | Online play, update checks |
| Google (STUN) | Tells your phone its public address so a direct link can be made | Starting an online match |
| Metered | Gives relay credentials, and relays a match when a direct link fails | Online matches |
| PostHog (EU) | Anonymous usage analytics | Only if you are 16+ and said yes |
| Your opponent | Their phone sees your IP address | During an online match |
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Other countries
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep things
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Match messages and room record | Until the match ends, or about 30 minutes without activity |
| Connection details at our servers and hosts | Routine logs, for a limited time |
| Anonymous analytics (if you agreed) | For a limited time, then deleted |
| Emails to support | As long as needed to help you |
| Settings on your phone | Until you clear the app’s data or uninstall |
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to take it elsewhere, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your data protection authority. Because the game has no accounts, we usually cannot link anything to you by name, and anonymous analytics cannot be traced back to you. To use any right, or ask a question, email [email protected]. We aim to reply within 30 days.
Security
Connections to our servers use encryption (HTTPS and secure WebSockets), and match data between phones is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so we limit what we collect in the first place.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we will ask again where the law requires it.
